GREENWOOD----Melissa Trippany recorded 13 digs Wednesday night and set a new Peach Belt Conference career digs record as the Lander volleyball team defeated Mars Hill, 3-0, in a non-conference game in Horne Arena. The Bearcats won, 30-25, 30-17, 32-30.
Trippany, a senior from Fort Myers, Fla., entered the game tied at 2,248 with Francis Marion's Jessica Strader and set the new PBC mark on her first dig.
Lander improves to 16-6 overall, while Mars Hill drops to 11-12.
Andrea Griffin led Lander with 13 kills and six block assists, while Kay Stewart added 10 kills, two solo blocks and four block assists. Candace LaRocca tallied 34 assists and Sara Senn had seven kills and 18 digs.
Mars Hill was led by Danielle Silvers (15 kills, 2 service aces, 11 digs), Lindsay Phillips (11 kills, three service aces), Jessica Britt (30 assists, 7 digs), and Tiffany Oreka (19 digs).
