DAHLONEGA, Ga.----Tiara Good scored a season-high 32 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had seven assists Wednesday night, but it was not good enough as the North Georgia College & State University women's basketball team rallied in the final minutes to defeat Lander, 85-83, in a Peach Belt Conference contest.
North Georgia improves to 6-7 overall and 1-2 in the PBC, while Lander drops to 6-7, 1-2.
With the game tied, 83-83, with 27 seconds remaining, North Georgia's Kourtney Singleton made the second of two free throws, then Megan Huffman added another free throw with four seconds remaining to provide the final margin.
Good connected on 11-of-19 field goals, including 5-of-9 threes, and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Stephanie Ponds added 19 points and three rebounds, while Tierra Kirkland scored 10 points and had seven rebounds.
Syretha Marble and Huffman led the Lady Saints with 27 and 25 points respectively, while Porsha White netted 12. Marble, who made 11-of-19 field goals, also had a team-high nine rebounds.
North Georgia, which led 47-36 at halftime, connected on 32-of-67 field goals for 47.8 percent, 4-of-17 three pointers for 23.5 percent and 17-of-22 free throws for 77.3 percent.
Lander made 31-of-64 floor shots (48.4 percent), 8-of-20 three pointers (40 percent) and 13-of-18 foul shots (72.2 percent).
The Lady Saints outrebounded Lander, 41-30.
