SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Armstrong Atlantic State University volleyball team placed four players in double figure kills in picking up a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander on Saturday afternoon at the ARC. Game scores were: 26-30, 30-23, 30-21, 30-21.
The Pirates improve to 9-10 overall and 3-1 in the PBC, while Lander falls to 14-6, 0-4.
Senior Adriana Miller led all players for the Pirates with 12 kills, while senior Traci Knuth and freshman Gwendolyn Clarke each tallied 11. For Clarke, who came off the bench for the Pirates, it was a season-high effort in kills and in attack percentage (.391). Junior Margaret Thornton tallied 38 assists and tied for the team lead in digs with 17 with senior Christina Flores, who added 17 digs.
Lander was led by a trio of players with 10 kills apiece – Sara Senn, Andrea Griffin and Kerri Sorensen. Jennifer (JJ) Edwards registered a match-high 41 assists and Melissa Trippany notched a game-high 20 digs.
Lander is next in action on Wednesday, Sept. 27 when they visit Converse for a 7:00 p.m. match.
