GREENWOOD----The No. 22-ranked Lander men's tennis team gave new head coach Brett Simpson his first victory as the leader of the Bearcat program Sunday when it defeated Mount Olive (N.C.) College, 9-0, in a non-conference match.

Lander is 1-0 and Mount Olive is 0-1.

In singles, No. 1 Nicolas Legros (LU) def. Gabriel Garcia, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8; No. 2 Joakim Karlsson (LU) def. Guilherme Serra, 6-1, 6-1; No. 3 Stefan Tewes (LU) def. Bruno Capato, 6-0, 6-0; No. 4 Andre Ivarsson (LU) def. Felipe Olarte, 6-2, 6-2; No. 5 Nicholas Tzekos (LU) def. Efrain Cayana, 6-2, 6-0; and No. 6 Akshay Chellappa (LU) def. Daniel Mosteanu, 6-4, 6-4.

In doubles, No.1 Ivarsson/Karlsson (LU) def. Garcia/Cayama, 8-3; No. 2 Chellappa/Tewes (LU) def. Serra/Capato, 8-0; and No. 3 Legros/T.C. Valle (LU) def. Faber/Olarte, 8-3.
