GREENWOOD----The Armstrong Atlantic State University volleyball team remained unbeaten in Peach Belt Conference action Friday when the Pirates defeated Lander, 3-1, in Horne Arena. Game scores were: 28-30, 30-16, 30-14, 30-20.
Armstrong Atlantic improves to 14-7 overall and 5-0 in the PBC, while Lander falls to 6-14, 0-6.
AASU's Traci Knuth and Adriana Miller both recorded double-doubles to lead the Lady Pirates. Knuth totaled 17 kills and 18 digs, while Miller had 10 kills and 19 digs. Rindy Vidovich added 12 kills, while Stacy Yates and Magaret Thornton had 32 and 19 assists respectively. Christina Flores (15 digs) and Stacia McCoy (10 digs) also contributed to AASU's defensive effort.
Lander was led by Kerri Sorensen (9 kills, 14 digs) and Kay Stewart (8 kills, 2 service aces, 6 digs). Carly Plecha led the Bearcats in assists with 15, while Sara Senn had a team-high 20 digs. Melissa Trippany had 11 digs.
Lander will travel to North Greenville University on Tuesday, Oct. 11 for a 6:30 non-conference game, while Armstrong Atlantic faces USC Upstate at 3 p.m. Saturday in a PBC contest.
