GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Lander women's cross country team opened its 2026 campaign Friday night at the Bruins XC Night Classic, placing sixth as a team in the 4K race.

Junior Amara Hille paced the Bearcats in her season debut, finishing 10th overall with a time of 15:59.20. Freshman Kayla Kerkofsky followed in 32nd at 16:55.10, while sophomore Madeline Beal crossed the line 43rd in 17:23.60.

Freshman Hannah Hall finished 53rd with a time of 17:45.10, and freshman Faye Brooks rounded out Lander's scoring five in 56th at 17:54.60. Junior Kaelynn Larose finished 81st in 20:09.60.

Lander finished with 175 points, placing sixth in the team standings.

The Bearcats will return to action Sept. 12 at the Furman Invitational.
