DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Lander raced out to a 3-0 lead and scored five goals in the first quarter, but it wasn't enough to slow the No. 5 Embry-Riddle Eagles at ERAU Lacrosse Field on Thursday night, as the Eagles won 19-8.
Kylie Fragala and
Morgan Hill offered their typical outputs offensively with three goals each.
Kayla Smith and
Sophie Warren scored as well for the Bearcats (5-6, 1-0 Gulf South Conference).
Ella Benson had three draw controls, a caused turnover and a ground ball from the midfield position.
Fragala and Hill alternated scores to open things for Lander during the opening four minutes of play.
Fragala impressively penciled in her hat-trick during the middle of the first quarter when she put LU on top 4-2 over ERAU (8-1, 1-0 Sunshine State Conference).
The Eagles scored four goals the rest of the quarter to gain a 6-5 lead.
Quarter No. 2 was a low-scoring one and Lander still only trailed 9-6 at halftime. But Embry-Riddle scored seven in a row between the third and fourth quarters to make the gap impenetrable.
Warren extended her point-streak to 32 games, dating back to April 7, 2024.
Caroline Nicholson extended hers to 11.
Lander will play its seventh ranked opponent of the year on Saturday when it heads to No. 1 and undefeated Flagler. It also marks their fourth top-five opponent of the campaign. The game is set for 4 p.m. from Flagler Lacrosse Field.
