BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Two days removed from earning her first collegiate win, goalkeeper Emersin Clamp has been named the Gulf South Conference Women's Lacrosse Freshman of the Week, it was announced today.
Clamp lived up to her fitting last name in putting the clamps down on Lee during a 16-7 win on Sunday afternoon.
Winning the GSC conference opener, Clamp stopped six shots and had a save percentage of .462. She also collected two ground balls against the Flames as the Bearcats improved to 5-5.
Having appeared in five games this season, Clamp currently carries the fourth-best goals-against average in the GSC at 9.55. In addition, her .475 overall save percentage puts her third in the conference.
Lander is on the road Thursday and Saturday this week. The Bearcats' first game will be at No. 5 Embry-Riddle at 6 p.m. on March 26. LU will then go north to No. 1 Flagler on March 28 at 4 p.m.
