MONROE, N.C – Lander women's golf posted a sixth-place finish in the 2026 edition of the Dr. Jerry Surratt Memorial hosted by Wingate at Stonebridge Golf Club.
The field was the most competitive of the year for the No. 9 Bearcats, who were up against all of the Top 5 teams in the country and six of the Top 10, not including themselves. There were 10 Top 25 teams in all.
No. 1 Wingate was 16 shots up on the field and won at 10-under. No. 2 Dallas Baptist was second at six-over, 10 strokes ahead of No. 4 Findlay (+16) in third.
No. 3 Anderson was +19 in fourth, followed by No. 14 Lee one shot behind them. The Bearcats finished at +23 and beat No. 7 North Georgia by 15 shots, and No. 5 Grand Valley State by 25.
Kajsa Lindqvist (+2) found her rhythm in the second and third rounds, posting scores of 72 and 71 after an opening-round 75 to grab a share of eighth place.
She led the field of 96 players in par-3 scoring as she shot 5-under on those holes. Lindqvist had nine birdies (seventh-most) and 37 pars (11th).
Sakurako Tanaka tied for 13th a shot behind Lindqvist. She scored a pair of 70s on Monday to sit at -4 after two rounds and made an eagle on Hole 14, a par 4, during the second round.
She was second in par-3 scoring (-2) while carding nine birdies and 31 pars altogether.
Isabel Ewers went 71-77-74 to finish six-over, tied for 22nd. She was -1 on the par 4s which was third-best in the field. Ewers carded seven birdies and 37 pars this week.
Lara Stifter (+14) completed the tournament with her lowest score of the week today, a 74. She had seven birdies and 30 pars.
Josefine Winkle was 18-over with four birdies and 31 pars.
LU has next week off and will be in competition again in Lander's Greenwood Women's Invitational at Greenwood Country Club March 23-24.
