BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference released its Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards this afternoon, and
Kaia Morey and
Morgan Hill were named the Defensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively.
This is the second DPOTW award of Morey's career and the first award for Hill.
Morey caused five turnovers over three games last week on the Bearcats' trip across Florida. The senior also collected three draw controls and five ground balls.
She had one caused turnover, one ground ball and one draw control at No. 5 Tampa last Monday. Morey followed that up with back-to-back games with two CT's, two GB's and one DC at No. 2 Florida Southern and No. 19 Florida Tech.
Morey is tied for the GSC lead with 18 caused turnovers this season.
Hill continued the strong start to her collegiate career with four goals and a ground ball last week. She bookended the week with one-goal games against Tampa and Florida Tech while scoring twice in the midweek game against Florida Southern.
Hill had the game-winning goal in LU's thrilling 15-14 win against the Panthers.
The Bearcats play tomorrow afternoon (March 11) at Van Taylor Stadium versus Indiana University of Pennsylvania in a 1:00 start.
