BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – It was announced today that for the second time this season, the duo of Kaia Morey and Morgan Hill collected Gulf South Conference Weekly Awards in the same week.

Morey was named the Defensive Player of the Week and Hill was named the Freshman of the Week. This marks the third award of the season for both players.

Morey caused two turnovers, picked up two ground balls and collected six draw controls in an all-around effort as the Bearcats trounced Virginia State 18-2 on Saturday. The senior also scored her first career goal in the win.

Hill had a career-best eight-point day on six goals and two assists. The goal tally was also a career-high and it marked the seventh hat-trick of the year for Hill; it was her third game with five or more goals. She added a caused turnover and a ground ball for good measure.

Lander will play in the semifinal round of the GSC Tournament in Huntsville, Ala. versus the No. 2 seed Chargers on Friday. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. CT start. More information on the game and tournament can be found here.
