Women's Lacrosse garners 6 Gulf South All-Conference selections

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – On Thursday afternoon, the Gulf South Conference released its 2026 All-Conference Awards for Women's Lacrosse. Lander was well-represented with six selections, including two players on the First Team.

Those First Team honorees were Kaia Morey at defender and Kylie Fragala at attack.

Making the Second Team were Calloway Umstead (defender), Ella Benson (midfield), Morgan Hill (attack) and Gabriella Eraso (specialist).

Morey picked up her second straight First Team nod following a regular season that featured 32 caused turnovers, 31 ground balls and 39 draw controls. Morey led the GSC in caused turnovers while slotting in eighth in draw controls.

She won the conference's Defensive Player of the Week award on three occasions. Perhaps Morey's signature game to date was against Mount Olive on Feb. 25. In that game, she caused five turnovers, picked up seven ground balls and collected a pair of draw controls.

Morey caused multiple turnovers in 12 games this season. She also had three games with six draw controls.

Fragala earned the first All-Conference selection of her three-year career. She posted a career year this year with highs of 30 goals, 12 assists and 42 points. Her point tally was the seventh-highest in the GSC, the goal tally, ninth.

Fragala registered five hat-tricks during the season, including two games with five goals. She's posted three points or more in eight games.

Umstead, a senior, garnered her first All-Conference selection. A master of clears, Umstead provided a steady presence defensively and finished with six caused turnovers, seven draw controls and 13 ground balls.

Benson collected an All-Conference award for the second year in a row. The senior has been an important presence in the midfield as she's gotten a career-high 33 draw controls – tied for the second-most for LU – alongside a career-best 19 caused turnovers, also second-most on the team.

Benson has 13 goals this season, seven of which have come over the last three games.

Hill produced one of the best freshman seasons in program history in 2026 as she led the team with 34 goals, the seventh-most in the conference.

She had seven hat-tricks in 14 games played. Three of those games featured five goals or more, with her highest output of six goals coming in the regular-season finale versus Virginia State on April 18.

Hill is no stranger to awards, having collected a trio of GSC Freshman of the Week awards throughout the year (March 10, April 7 and April 21).

Her fellow freshman Eraso has been a key figure in her own right at the draw control circle, collecting 33 in all. She grabbed three or more in half a dozen games, with two of her best efforts coming across the last three games when she tallied five draw controls against both Montevallo (April 4) and Virginia State (April 18).

The Bearcats are on the road to Huntsville, Ala. where they will face No. 2 seed Alabama-Huntsville in the GSC semifinals tomorrow (April 24) at 2 p.m. CT. The tournament will be contested at the Loretta P. Spencer Sports Complex. More information, including tickets, can be found here.
