ANDERSON, S.C. – On Saturday night at Spero Financial Field on the campus of Anderson University, the Lander Women's Soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with the host Trojans.
Lander (1-0-1) got on the board in a hurry when
Claire Regnault made it 1-0 in the ninth minute. Regnault's first score of the season followed
Rylee King's shot on goal in the seventh minute as the Bearcats were on the offensive early.
Anderson (0-1-1) managed to match the Bearcats' goal in the 14th minute which proved to be the game's final goal.
Shots were hard to come by from that point on in the game – Lander had six total to Anderson's four – and each side had just one shot on net in the final 45 minutes.
Peyton Bibbee, who scored a goal in the opener, had a late chance in the 89th minute that was saved by the Trojans' goalie.
The Blue and Gold will return to the pitch this Wednesday, Sep. 10 in a road match versus Belmont Abbey. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
