MORROW, Ga. – The No. 19 Lander men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the 2025 campaign on Saturday afternoon at Laker Field, a 1-0 result against Clayton State.
Lander (1-1-5, 1-1-2 PBC) registered 15 shots and five on goal, both outnumbering Clayton State's (2-4-2, 1-2-1 PBC) five total shots and three on goal.
Christian Hatley came close to getting the Bearcats on the board from the left side in the 10th minute, though the Lakers' keeper was up to the task and stopped the shot to his right.
Carson Graves put one on net in the 16th minute that was also saved.
Clayton State headed a shot in in the 21st minute to gain a 1-0 lead.
The Bearcats' best open scoring chance during the second half came off the left foot of
Mika Lankhof in the 70th minute.
Ryosuke Tanaka set him up at the top of the penalty area but his shot went high.
In the 83rd minute,
Sam Crolla's header from a Lankhof corner-kick glanced off the left post.
Lander returns home to play USCA on Wednesday night (Oct. 1). Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30.
