King to Step Down as Head Cross Country, Track and Field Coach

GREENWOOD – Lander University head cross country and track and field coach Aaron King has announced that he will step down from his position following the conclusion of the outdoor track and field season to accept a coaching role at Eckerd College in Florida.

"We would like to thank Aaron for all he has done to build the foundation of success for both the cross country and track and field programs," said athletics director Brian Reese. "We wish him and his wife, Miranda, all the best at Eckerd."

In his two years leading the programs, King guided the cross country teams to their best finishes at the Peach Belt Conference Championships since 2017. Under his leadership, several track and field athletes earned podium finishes at both the indoor and outdoor PBC Championships, including Michael Balkman, who was named Most Outstanding Athlete at the 2025 Indoor Championships.

Lander will begin a search for its next head coach immediately.
