Lander Falls Short in Conference Carolinas Quarterfinals Battle

BELMONT, N.C. - No. 15 Lander put up a valiant fight in the Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday night but ultimately fell to No. 4 seed Belmont Abbey, 249.705-239.360.

The No. 5 seed Bearcats (5-4) kept the Crusaders (7-3) within reach through much of the meet, posting strong scores in the compulsory and toss events. Lander trailed by just 3.95 points after the compulsory and acro events and closely matched Belmont Abbey's scores in the toss event, recording a 26.25 to the Crusaders' 25.90.

Despite standout performances in the tumbling event, Lander struggled to gain ground in the acro heats. A difficult third heat score (5.95) created a deficit the Bearcats could not overcome. Lander finished with a team event score of 82.11, just behind Belmont Abbey's 84.68.
