WINGATE, N.C. – In their final non-conference game of the regular season, the Lander men's lacrosse team fell to No. 10 Wingate by a final of 12-5 on Saturday afternoon at Irwin Belk Stadium.
The Bearcats are now 5-6 this season, and the Bulldogs are 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the South Atlantic Conference.
Zane Dalpe put Lander on the board and cut the deficit to 2-1 8:30 into the game. After two more Wingate scores,

Levi Roest for a 4-2 score after 15 minutes.
The Bulldogs scored twice in the second quarter and took a 6-2 lead into halftime.
Chase Hanson scored 34 seconds into the second half, and
Carter Wilcox got the assist tally, as the Bearcats narrowed the gap to 6-3.
Wingate scored four in a row before Dalpe scored twice over the final five minutes of the quarter as the score read 10-5 after three. WU tacked on two more in the fourth quarter.
Max Porterfield got the start in goal and stopped 12 of 24 shots on net while also adding one caused turnover and a ground ball.
The Bearcats return home next Saturday (April 5) to open Peach Belt play versus current-No. 19 Montevallo in a 1 p.m. start time.
