GREENWOOD – The 2025 edition of the Lady Bearcat Invitational at Greenwood Country Club is in the books as the Lander women's golf team earned a second-place result in a field of 16 teams.
Two Bearcats finished inside the top-five and earned recognition to the All-Tournament team:
Kajsa Lindqvist (T2, even-par) and
Sakurako Tanaka (T5, +4).
Wingate (+13) won the tournament by seven shots over the Bearcats, who were 10 shots ahead of third-place Lincoln Memorial. Limestone (+33) and West Florida (+39) were also in the top-five.
Lindqvist started out with rounds of 73 and 75 yesterday – with par at 72 – but fired off a four-under 68 today in an impressive closing effort with five birdies. It tied for the lowest score of the tournament, and her 10 birdies this week were tied for second-most in the field.
Tanaka was ever-steady as she turned in a scoreline of 73-73-74 with seven birdies over her three rounds.
Gracie McCoy's even-par 72 in yesterday's second round assured her a spot in the top-15. McCoy had scores of 77 and 76 in her first and third rounds to finish at nine-over.
One shot back of McCoy was
Isabel Ewers who tied for 17th with a three-day total of 226 and seven birdies.
Josefine Winkle was the fifth Lander player on the board in a 27th-place tie after carding rounds of 75-78-76.
Elizabeth Bradley and
Victoria Callahan led the Bearcat individual scorers this week with three-round totals of 240 with
Emily Beiers at 262.
Lander will be on the course again next week in the Lynn University Invite on March 31 and April 1. It will take place at Boca Woods Country Club in Boca Raton.
