FORT WORTH, Texas —
Anderson Jones became the second Lander Bearcats angler to capture a major tournament victory this season, winning the Bassmaster College Classic this past weekend on Eagle Mountain Lake in Fort Worth, Texas.
Jones won the one-day tournament, held annually alongside the Bassmaster Classic — the largest event in professional bass fishing — by bringing in the heaviest bag of any angler to cross the stage, professional or amateur.
The Greenville, S.C., native secured the victory with a five-fish limit totaling 35 pounds, 9 ounces, defeating his closest competition — a pair from Montevallo — by more than 10 pounds (25 pounds, 3 ounces). His largest catch weighed over 8 pounds.
In the Collegiate Bass School of the Year standings, Lander currently sits in 11th place with 15,790 points, within 2,000 points of breaking into the top five.
