AUBURN, Ala. – The Lander Bass Fishing team saw four Bearcats advance to the final round of the Logan Parks NSANE Tournament on Lake Martin, one of the premier growing events in collegiate fishing.
Now in its third year, the tournament pairs each college angler with a drafted high school angler for a three-period format on Sunday. The first two periods featured an every-fish-counts, live-scoreboard system in a massive 200-boat (400-angler) field, all competing for a $30,000 winner's check and two coveted berths into the Bassmaster Opens.
Cody Abbott, partnered with Alabama high school senior Brandon Goodman, delivered one of the best performances of the weekend. After advancing to the final round, where weights reverted to a traditional five-fish format, the duo finished second overall, missing the title by just 0.12 pounds. Their runner-up finish earned $10,000, and Abbott secured qualification into the Bassmaster Opens this spring.
Anderson Jones capped another impressive week with a fifth-place finish, adding $3,000 to the Bearcats' haul and giving LU two anglers inside the top five of the 200-boat field.
