Lander Women's Tennis Falls to Erskine on the Road

Box Score Due West, S.C. - The Lander women's tennis team (5-3) dropped a hard-fought match to Erskine College on Tuesday, falling 6-1.

The Flying Fleet took the doubles point after sweeping all three matches, with Mille Elsborg and Maria Jose Zarza putting up a strong fight at No. 1 doubles before falling 6-4.

In singles play, Bailee Martin earned Lander's lone victory at No. 5 singles, rallying for a 3-6, 6-0, 10-3 win over A. Jacobs.

The Bearcats saw two highly competitive matches at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Evelyn Altmaier pushed A. Jativa to a decisive third-set tiebreak but ultimately fell 7-6 (5), 3-6, 10-5.

Jose Zarza also battled through two close tiebreak sets at No. 3 singles but came up short against T. Stefanovic, dropping a 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) decision.

UP NEXT
Lander will look to bounce back in its next match at home against Francis Marion on Saturday, March 1. Doubles will begin at 11 a.m. at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.
