No. 6 Seed Lander Meets Defending Champion North Georgia in PBC Tournament Quarterfinals

AUGUSTA, GA - The Lander University women's tennis team has earned the No. 6 seed in the 2026 Peach Belt Conference Women's Tennis Tournament and will face a challenge in the opening round.

The Bearcats are slated to take on No. 3 seed North Georgia on Friday, April 24, at 12 p.m. in Columbus, Georgia. The tournament will be held at the John C. Walden Tennis Center, with Columbus State serving as host for the sixth consecutive year.

Lander enters postseason play looking to rebound from a 7-0 loss to North Georgia earlier this season. At the time of that meeting, the Nighthawks were ranked No. 13 nationally. They have since climbed to No. 11 in the latest national rankings, underscoring the challenge that awaits the Bearcats in the quarterfinals.

Despite the regular-season setback, Lander has shown resilience throughout conference play and will look to carry momentum into the tournament. A win would propel the Bearcats into Saturday's semifinal round against the winner of the matchup between No. 2 Flagler and No. 7 Augusta.

The PBC Tournament begins Friday with quarterfinal matches, followed by semifinals on Saturday and the championship match scheduled for Sunday at 10 a.m.
