Lander Secures First Win of the Season Over Emmanuel

GREENWOOD - The Lander Acrobatics & Tumbling team delivered a dominant performance in their home opener, securing their first victory of the season with a commanding 254.710-205.140 win over Emmanuel on Monday night. In front of an energetic crowd of 195 fans, Lander not only notched their first win of 2025 but also recorded the highest score so far in conference play.

The Bearcats set the tone early, outscoring Emmanuel 37.40-30.15 in the Compulsory event before extending their lead in Acro (27.95-15.60) and Pyramid (29.00-25.95). Their precision and execution were particularly evident in the Pyramid event, where they nearly maxed out their scores in the 450 Salto and Open heats.

Lander continued to build momentum in the Toss and Tumbling events, showcasing impressive performances in the Duo Pass (Morgan Axiotis & Julie Szmitko), Trio Pass (Ryann Swope, Cayden Groome, Phoenix Woodard), and Open Pass (Jaedien Irizarry). The Bearcats' strong execution carried over to the Team Event, where they sealed the victory with an 81.76-point performance, pushing their final total to 254.710.

With this decisive victory, Lander has set a new benchmark for the season and conference competition.

The Bearcats will travel to Bristol, Tenn., for a Tri-Match against King University and Wingate University, which will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
