ORLANDO, Fla. – Callum Stokes of the Lander men's soccer team is the D2CIDA Men's Soccer National Player of the Week, it was announced this afternoon.
Stokes was also announced yesterday as
the Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week.
The sophomore from Reading, England, scored four goals in a pair of wins last week. He recorded his first career hat trick in the Bearcats' 5-1 home win over No. 19 North Georgia last Wednesday before adding another goal in Lander's 3-0 win at USCA on Saturday in the regular-season finale.
Stokes' six goals this season are second-most on the team.
National Players of the Week are selected by a volunteer committee of Division II Conference Information Directors from a pool of nominations submitted by conference offices.
The No. 2 seed Bearcats host No. 7 Middle Georgia in the PBC quarterfinals this Saturday. Kick-off from Van Taylor Stadium is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
