GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Lander University Rocket League team capped off an incredible run through the Peach Belt Conference season on Sunday afternoon, taking down No. 2 seed Huntingdon in a dramatic seven-game series to win the PBC Champions Division Championship.
The top-seeded Bearcats came out firing, dominating Game 1 with a 5-0 shutout before edging out a 3-2 victory in Game 2 to take an early 2-0 series lead. Huntingdon battled back with a 5-3 win in Game 3, but Lander regained control in Game 4 behind a gritty defensive effort and a golden-goal overtime winner at 3:36 to move within one game of the title.
Huntingdon refused to go quietly, however, taking the next two games in high-scoring fashion — 6-5 and 5-4 — to force a decisive Game 7. Game 5 proved to be one of the wildest of the day, as the Bearcats erased a 5-2 deficit to tie the match at 5-5 with just 13 seconds remaining, only for Huntingdon to find the winner as time expired.
With everything on the line, Lander responded in dominant fashion, controlling possession and pace in the finale to earn a 5-2 victory and the conference crown.
Sophomore
Titus Campbell led the way for Lander with 13 goals, 15 saves, 30 demos, and six assists in the series.
Carson Medlin added nine goals and nine assists, while
Joel Guillen provided balance on both ends with seven goals, 17 saves, and seven assists.
Following the match, former RLCS World Champion Kronovi called the showdown "the series of the event" — fitting praise for one of the most competitive Rocket League finals in recent PBC history.
