Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Jason Guth - Assistant Sports Information Director

Lander caps regular season with 3-0 win at USCA

AIKEN, S.C. – In need of a win to earn the No. 2 seed in next week's Peach Belt Conference Tournament, the Lander men's soccer team delivered on its mission with a 3-0 shutout win on the road at USCA on Saturday night.

Because Flagler and North Georgia played to a scoreless draw earlier in the day, the Saints were stationed at 23 points to the Bearcats' 21 – North Georgia clinched the No. 1 seed with that result – so Lander needed to win and earn three points to leapfrog Flagler for the second spot.

And win, they did.

Giacomo Sartori continued his torrid pace with his eighth goal of the season to open the scoring in the 20th minute. Lucas Lindstrup initially put a shot on net that was punched away by USCA's keeper, but it landed right in the lap of Sartori who kicked it in.

Sartori has five goals in the last six games and is second in the conference in goals scored.

Callum Stokes added another goal in the second half after recording a hat trick in Wednesday night's win over North Georgia. He placed a perfect free-kick to the bottom left corner of the net in the 49th minute to stake the Bearcats to a two-goal lead.

Christian Hatley put the icing on the cake in the 58th minute with a close-range score.

The Bearcats outshot the Pacers 17-9 and put eight shots on net in all.

Conrad Knight picked up his fourth clean sheet and seventh win in net thanks to making eight saves.

Lander will host No. 7 seed Middle Georgia in the PBC quarterfinal round on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 3:30 p.m.
