Pacers Hand Bearcats Home Loss in PBC Action

GREENWOOD - Lander volleyball dropped a Peach Belt Conference matchup to the University of South Carolina Aiken on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-21) inside Finis Horne Arena.

Despite a strong opening set that came down to the wire, the Bearcats (8-7, 1-3 PBC) couldn't sustain their early momentum as service errors and inconsistent hitting proved costly against the Pacers (6-7, 1-1 PBC). Lander committed 12 service errors and hit just .046 as a team, compared to USCA's .221.

Katie Miller led the Bearcats with 12 kills, three aces, and 10 digs, while Enisilina Savelio added 20 assists, four kills, and six digs on a .400 hitting percentage. Ryleigh Willard contributed six kills and three aces, and libero Emmi Cheek anchored the defense with 11 digs.

The first set saw Lander trade points with USCA before the Pacers pulled away late. A tough second frame swung the momentum firmly toward the visitors, who capitalized on Lander's errors to take a commanding 2-0 lead. The Bearcats fought back in the third, but a late Aiken surge sealed the sweep.

Lander will look to bounce back on Friday, Oct. 10, when it travels to St. Augustine, Florida, to face Flagler College in Peach Belt Conference play at 6 p.m.
