Lander Picked Fifth in PBC Preseason Poll; Langley Named to Preseason All-Conference Team

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Lander University women's basketball team was selected fifth in the 2025-26 Peach Belt Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office announced Wednesday. Senior guard Quadaija Langley also earned a spot on the Preseason All-Conference Team.

The Bearcats are coming off a strong 2024-25 campaign in which they finished 14-13 overall and 8-10 in conference play, advancing to the Peach Belt Conference semifinals before falling in a close 59-52 battle against Georgia Southwestern—just one win shy of the championship game.

The Bearcats return several key contributors from last season's squad, led by Langley, who earned First Team All-PBC, PBC All-Tournament, and D2CCA All-Region honors in the 2024-25 season. The dynamic guard averaged 16.8 points per game, shooting .372 percent from the field and .302 from three-point range, while adding 69 assists and averaging 3.0 per game.

Lander also returns junior guard Trinity Thomas along with sophomores Jazz Frierson (point guard) and Ainsley Anderson (guard). Head coach Nicole "Colie" Shelwick has added a strong recruiting class for the 2025–26 season, highlighted by senior guard/forward transfer Serenity Echols from Mississippi Valley State, junior forward Lauryn Hunt from Triton College, and junior guard/forward Kennedy Johnson-Corley from Vincennes University.

North Georgia was picked as the preseason favorite after collecting nine first-place votes and 99 total points. Columbus State (90) and Augusta (83) rounded out the top three, followed by Flagler (69) in fourth and Lander (61) in fifth; the poll can be seen below.

The Bearcats open their 2025-26 season at the SAC/PBC Challenge in Hickory, N.C., facing Carson-Newman on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m. and Lenoir-Rhyne on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m.
