AUGUSTA, Ga. – Ryosuke Tanaka and
Josh Murray were selected as this week's Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer Player and Defender of the Week, the conference office announced this afternoon.
Tanaka grabs his first Player of the Week honor of the season – it's also the first for Lander this year – after scoring a goal in each of the Bearcats' 3-1 wins last week.
He scored on Wednesday at Middle Georgia, and again on Saturday versus Clayton State on Senior Day when he and six of his teammates were honored in a pregame ceremony.
Those were Tanaka's fourth and fifth goals of the campaign, which is tied for second-most on the team.
Murray picks up his second Defensive Player of the Week award of the season after previously winning it back on Oct. 6.
The sophomore from Burscough, England, scored his third goal this season in the road win over the Knights. He played in every minute of action last week and helped guide the Lander defense to just two goals allowed.
The Bearcats host their Code Blue game this Wednesday at Van Taylor Stadium versus North Georgia. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
