Lander Wins Fourth Straight With 4-0 Win Over Barton

WILSON, N.C. – The Lander Field Hockey team completed a perfect 2-0 road trip to North Carolina as the Bearcats defeated Barton 4-0 on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match at Truist Stadium.

The win marked Lander's fourth straight victory and the team's fifth shutout of the season, improving to 11-3 overall.

Lander opened the scoring late in the first quarter when Nienke Meima netted her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 14th minute.

Ollie Bond doubled the advantage early in the third quarter, while Dusty-Rose Miller continued her strong form by scoring for the third consecutive game off an assist from Julia Matthijssen in the 45th minute.

Lauren Punt capped the scoring in the fourth quarter with her fifth goal of the season, assisted by Meima.

Goalkeepers Avery Tworkowski and Isabel Elenga combined for the shutout as Lander held Barton to just one shot all game.

The Bearcats close out the regular season with a pair of meetings against Coker, beginning on Saturday (Oct. 25) in Hartsville for a South Atlantic Conference matchup before returning home to Frank Hill Stadium on November 1 for a non-conference meeting.
