#12 Lander Shuts Out Lincoln Memorial and Bluefield State on Senior Night

GREENWOOD - The 12th-ranked Lander Wrestling team made quick work of the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters and the Bluefield State Big Blue on Friday evening, dispatching the two Conference Carolinas opponents by scores of 53-0 and 52-0, respectively. The Bearcats won 18 of 20 matches by either bonus point margins or forfeits.

Lander still sits alone atop the Conference Carolinas West Division with a 5-0 in-division record. They sit at 12-4 overall and 8-0 in the league overall.

Lincoln Memorial drops to 2-13 overall, 1-6 in the league, and 1-3 in the West Division. Bluefield State drops to 4-8 overall and is also 1-6 in the league and 1-3 in the division.

Match 1: #12 Lander 53, Lincoln Memorial 0
Kaden Kuenzi (Silverton, Ore.) and Christian Davis (Arizona City, Ariz.) started the match off with back-to-back tech falls to give Lander a 10-0 lead after two matches.

 At 141, Collin Oden (Middletown,N.J.) rode out the entire second period on top and got a reversal in the third period to earn a 3-1 decision to make it 13-0.

Garrett Wood (Fortson, Ga.) and Noah Ruolo added techs of their own to add ten more points to the Bearcats total before Ransom Randolph (Apopka, Fla.) earned a pin in the last contested match of the dual.

The Railsplitters forfeited the last four weight classes, including 285, where Hayden Lawter (Honea Path, S.C.) picked up the win in his final match inside Horne Arena.

Match 2:#12  Lander 52, Bluefield State 0
Kuenzi started the match by using a third-period takedown to secure a 5-2 decision in his final regular season match inside Horne Arena to give Lander a 3-0 lead.

Davis and Wood each earned tech falls to sandwich a Big Blue forfeit at 141 to make the score 19-0 after four matches.

After two more forfeits at 157 and 165, Nathan Buckovich got three takedowns in the final period to earn a 19-3 tech fall to add five more points to Lander's total.

The Big Blue forfeited matches at 184 and 197 to make it 48-0 and Issac Sheeren (Houston, Texas) closed the night with a fitting shutout 8-0 major decision.

Lander will have a full week off before traveling to Franklin Springs, Ga., on Tuesday, February 4th, to face the Montevallo Falcons in a neutral-site dual. The time for that match is still to be announced. The Bearcats and Falcons currently sit as the top two teams in the West Division
