WINTER PARK, Fla. – Competing in their second game of the 2024 season, the Lander men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to host Rollins College on Sunday afternoon. The game featured a lightning delay in the 77th minute before its eventual completion.
Christian Hatley nearly scored on a header in the 9th minute of the match, but fortunately for Lander (0-2-0),
Charlie Bell was able to capitalize on the goalie deflection and put one home just 8:46 into the game; the scored remained 1-0 Bearcats by the end of the first half.
Rollins (1-1-0) scored the equalizer just 1:20 into the second half before scoring their second and third goals five minutes apart for a two-goal lead in the 59th minute. Bell had a chance for his second of the day a few minutes later but was unable to score.
Carson Graves also had his shot on net stopped in the 65th minute prior to the fourth and final Tars goal in the game's 68th minute.
The Bearcats resume their season on Saturday, Sept. 14 with a road game against Montevallo in Alabama. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET
