GREENWOOD — Conner Droze blasted two home runs and tied the school record with 34 career homers to help #24 Lander to a 6-0 win over Limestone, extending the Bearcats' winning streak to six games.
In the bottom of the first inning, Droze homered to right field, scoring Taichi Nakao to put Lander up 2-0. Conner hit his second two-run home run two innings later, this time to center, to make it 4-0. Kyle Murphy led off the seventh with a single to right-center field and later came around to score on a single by Ethan Wilder to extend the Bearcat lead to five. Gary Garrett would make it 6-0 in the eighth, singling and stealing second and third, then scoring on a wild pitch.
Droze led the Bearcat offense, going 2-3 with two home runs, two runs scored, and four runs driven in, while Garrett finished the game 2-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Jake Larson (6-1) had another dominating performance on the mound to pick up the win. He scattered four hits over seven innings and struck out a career-high 11 batters without allowing a walk.
