GREENWOOD — Lander picked up their second PBC series sweep on Sunday, knocking off USC Aiken 9-3.
The Pacers scored one run in the top of the first to take the early lead. The Bearcat offense answered in the bottom of the second. Gary Garrett's RBI single and Oliver Zohn and Ethan Wilder's two-run singles made it 5-1. Lander added a run in the third and fourth innings to make it a six-run game and cruised to the victory.
Wilder continued to swing a hot bat, going 4-5 with four runs driven in to lead the Lander offense. Taichi Nakao was 2-4 with a double and two runs scored, Garrett was 2-4 with a run scored and RBI, and Chandler Moeller finished the game 2-4 with a run scored. Anson Merrick (3-0) scattered three hits, allowed three runs and struck out eight in eight innings to get the win.
