GREENWOOD - Lander wrapped up the regular season with a 10-9 victory over Georgia Southwestern Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Lander would take the lead on a two-run triple by Chris Manriquez. Garrey Garrett made it 3-1 with a single that scored Manriquez. A two-run home run by Ethan Wilder in the second extended the Bearcat lead to four runs. Lander made it 6-1 with a solo home run by Chandler Moeller in the bottom of the third.
Georgia Southwestern tied the game at six with three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh. In the bottom half of the inning, Ross McCurley and Tachi Nakao drew one-out walks, and Wilder blasted his second home run of the day to give the Bearcats the lead again. The lead would be short-lived, as the Hurricanes answered with three runs in the top of the eighth to tie the game at nine. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Nakao and Wilder singled and Connor Droze was walked to load the bases. Manriquez ended the game with an RBI single to center field.
Wilder led the Bearcats at the plate, going 4-5 with two home runs, three runs scored, and five RBI, while Manriquez was 2-5 with a run scored, triple, and three runs driven in. Tyler Overholt (3-2) picked up the win, allowing two hits and striking out one in 1.1 innings.
