Beaufort, S.C. - The Lander Bearcat offense stayed hot on Saturday, and Anson Merrick tossed a seven-inning no-hitter as the Bearcats split a doubleheader with USC Beaufort to clinch the series victory.
GAME ONE
The Sandsharks scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game at twelve and send it to extra innings. USC Beaufort would score the winning run in the bottom of the eleventh to take the win and even the series at one.
Taichi Nakao led the Bearcats at the plate, going 3-5 with a run scored and four RBIs. Chandler Moeller finished the game 3-5 with a double and four runs scored, while Jackson Hoshour was 2-5 with a run scored and RBI.
GMAE TWO
After being held scoreless in the first inning, the Lander offense would score 19 runs over their next six at-bats, and Merrick would need just 62 pitches to complete the no-hitter of the Sandsharks.
Moeller led the Bearcats at the plate, going 4-6 with a double, home run, three runs scored and four runs driven in. Chris Manriquez was 4-5 with two doubles and two runs scored, and Connor Droze was 2-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Merrick (2-0) dominated the Beaufort lineup, allowing just two base runners over seven innings and striking out six to pick up the win.
