GREENWOOD - Belmont Abbey held on to defeat Lander 7-6 Wednesday night in a nonconference game.
Belmont Abbey scored two runs in the first inning, two in the fourth and fifth, to take a 7-3 lead. Down to their last at-bat, Lander would score three runs to make it a one-run game but could not get the tying run across the plate.
Ethan Wilder led the Bearcats at the plate, going 2-3 with four RBIs, while Matthew Slaton and Logan Kobis each had one hit. Jake Larson (5-1) took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits in four innings of work.
