GREENWOOD - The Lander offense exploded for 13 runs on 11 hits to complete the series sweep of Erskine, winning 13-8 Saturday afternoon.
The Bearcats scored three runs in the second and two in the third inning to take an early 5-0 lead. Erskine would score four runs in the fifth to cut the lead to one run, but Lander would answer with two in the bottom half of the inning to make it 7-4. The Fleet would add four more runs in the top of the sixth to take their first lead of the game, 8-7.
In the bottom of the sixth, a pitch hit Kael Snethen, and Oliver Zohn reached on an infield single to lead off the inning. Ethan Wilder then drew a walk to load the bases, and Will McClellan tied the game up with a sacrifice fly. Connor Droze hit a two-run double to give the Bearcats the 10-8 lead. A sacrifice fly by Chandler Moeller made it 11-8. Lander would add a run in the seventh and eighth to take the win.
Taichi Nakao was 3-4 with a double, RBI, and two runs scored to lead the Bearcats. Gary Garrett was 2-5 with a run scored and two runs driven in, while Chris Manriquez finished 2-5 with a run scored and RBI. Nick Foray (1-0) picked up the win from the bullpen with one and a third innings of no-hit relief.
