GREENWOOD - Lander scored 17 unanswered runs in game two, defeating Lincoln Memorial 19-5 to earn a split with the Railsplitters, who won game one 13-5.
GAME ONE
Lincoln Memorial took the lead with two runs in the top of the first, but the Bearcats answered with two in the bottom of the inning. The Railsplitters scored two runs in the fourth, two in the fifth, and four in the sixth to take a 10-2 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, Connor Droze led off with a single, and a pitch hit Oliver Zohn. A single by Gary Garret scored Droze, and a pinch-hit single by Bennet Nooe scored Zohn and Garret to make it a 10-5 game. That would be as close as Lander would get as Lincoln Memorial added three more runs to take the victory.
Garrett was 2-4 with an RBI and run scored, while Nooe came off the bench and went 1-2 with two runs driven in. Bennett Nance (1-1) took the loss, allowing four earned runs on ten hits in five innings of work.
GAME TWO
Lincoln Memorial again struck first, scoring four runs in the second. Adam Love led off the bottom half of the inning with a triple to right-center field. After Nooe drew a walk, Love scored on a ground out by Garrett. Taichi Nakao later scored Nooe on a sacrifice fly to cut the Bearcat deficit to two. The Railsplitters responded with a run in the third to make it a 5-2 game. The Bearcats offense scored 17 runs over the next four innings to take the 19-5 win.
Ethan Wilder was 3-3 with a double, two runs scored, and three RBIs and Love was 2-4 with a double, triple, two runs batted in, and three runs scored to lead the Bearcat offense. Kurt Rogers (1-0) picked up the win out of the bullpen, striking out four in two no-hit innings of relief work.
