GREENWOOD - Lander pounded 13 hits as the Bearcats defeated Coker 12-3 Tuesday evening in nonconference baseball action.
In the bottom of the first, Taichi Nakao was singled to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a double by Ethan Wilder. Will McClellan then blasted a home run to left to make it 3-0. The Bearcats added to their lead in the third with RBIs from Adam Love and Ross McCurley. Lander would blow the game wide open with seven runs over their final three at-bats to take the win.
Connor Droze and McClellan led the Bearcat offense, going 2-3 with a home run, double, and three RBIs. Gary Garrett and McCurley also added two hits for Lander. Making his first career start, freshman Jake Larson (2-0) threw eight innings, striking out eight hitters and allowing just one run to pick up the win.
