86th Minute Goal Gives Bearcats 1-1 Draw Against Pacers, Earns No. 4 Seed in Peach Belt Tournament

AIKEN, S.C. – An 86th minute Carson Graves goal assured the Lander men's soccer team a 1-1 draw at USC Aiken on Monday night on the final day of the regular season. Lander closed the regular season with a 2-7-6 record and finished 2-5-3 in conference play.

As such, the Bearcats earned the No. 4 seed and a home game in the quarterfinal round of the Peach Belt Tournament.

In this game, Lander outshot the Pacers, the No. 6 seed in the tournament, 13-12. Four Bearcat shots were on goal and three of those came in a scoreless first half. The Pacers finally broke the ice in the 58th minute before Graves pulled through in the late stages with his second goal of 2024, assisted by captain Christian Hatley.

Freshman Jack Ammann made the first start of his career in goal for the Bearcats and stopped six shots.

The Bearcats will host fifth-seeded Georgia Southwestern on Saturday (Nov. 9) at Van Taylor Stadium. The teams played twice during the regular season, with each winning on their home turf. Kickoff time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
