Lander Volleyball Edged Out in Five-Set Peach Belt Semifinal Showdown

GREENWOOD - The Lander University volleyball team fell to the Augusta Jaguars in a tightly contested five-set Peach Belt Semifinal match on Friday at Horne Arena. After a strong start with victories in the first two sets (25-22, 25-19), Augusta surged to claim the following three sets (25-22, 25-22, 15-12) and secure the comeback win.

Madde Blake was the lone Bearcat to hit over .200, hitting .255 with 14 kills and 16 points while leading the team in aces with two. Katie Miller delivered an impressive 18 kills and 21 digs, while Lauren Dow contributed a double-double with 33 assists and 26 digs.

The match turned in the third set as Augusta found their stride, improving to a .170 hitting percentage. Lander struggled to counter, hitting just .000 in the decisive fifth set.

Both teams showcased exceptional defense, with Lander tallying 112 digs to Augusta's 118 in a closely contested battle.

The Bearcats now turn their attention to the NCAA Division II Selection Show on Monday, Nov. 25, at 7:30 p.m. ET, where they'll await news on a potential bid to the national tournament.
