MORROW, Ga. – Thanks to a late goal from captain
Christian Hatley in the 84th minute, the Lander men's soccer team drew 1-1 with Peach Belt-leading Clayton State on Saturday evening at Laker Field.
With the result, Lander now sits at 2-5-5 on the season with a 2-3-2 mark in conference. The Lakers moved to 9-2-3 and 6-1-1. The Bearcats outshot the hosts 13-11 but had only two shots on net during the game.
One of those was of course the aforementioned Hatley magic, the other also coming off the foot of Hatley seven minutes prior that was saved.
Giacomo Sartori nailed the crossbar shortly before Hatley tied the game.
Keanu Ridgill made his third consecutive start in net and saved three of four shots to give himself a 1-0-2 record this season and a .909 save percentage (10/11) over those starts.
Lander stays on the road this Wednesday (Oct. 30) for a matchup with North Georgia – whom the Bearcats beat 2-0 on Sept. 18 – in a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
