GREENWOOD – In a fairly contentious Wednesday night matchup at Van Taylor Stadium, the Lander men's soccer team and the visiting Pacers of USC Aiken played to a scoreless draw in a game that featured six yellow cards.
Lander (2-5-4, 2-3-1 Peach Belt Conference) outshot the Pacers (2-2-4, 0-2-2 Peach Belt Conference) 11-9 though were outshot 5-4 on net.
Keanu Ridgill's five saves provided a second straight clean sheet in his second consecutive start.
The lone Bearcat shot on net in the first half came off the foot of
Lucas Lindstrup in the 40th minute.
Zach Meyer had a scoring chance early in the second half but was unable to get it past Aiken's keeper. In a frantic final push for both sides,
Christian Hatley narrowly missed a score in the 80th minute, and likewise for
Callum Stokes in the 84th.
Lander is on the road this Saturday (Oct. 26) for a matchup with Clayton State in Morrow, Ga. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
