GREENWOOD – The Lander men's soccer team earned a 2-2 draw with Lee University on Saturday evening at Van Taylor Stadium in their first game in two weeks.
Lander (1-4-3, 1-2-0 PBC) got things started in a hurry as
Carson Graves scored his second career goal only 53 seconds into the first start of his career.
Charlie Bell nearly made it 2-0 12 minutes later before Lee tied it at 1-all in the 24th minute.
Lucas Lindstrup (31st minute) and
Callum Stokes (45th minute) registered the final pair of Bearcat shots on net in the first half as the teams went into halftime tied at 1.
Stokes had another goal denied a mere 30 seconds into the closing half but was not to be denied in the 60th minute when
Zach Meyer received a corner kick entry and found him to put Lander ahead by one.
Carlos Madrid had the final Bearcat goal-scoring chance in the 67th minute, though Lee was able to break through with the game-tying goal in the 88th minute for the final score.
Lander outshot Lee 15-12 and both teams had eight shots on net.
Juan Rodriguez had five saves.
Lander is on the road Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 16, against Flagler in a 2:30 kickoff.
