BLUFFTON, S.C. - In their first matchup with USC Beaufort, #24 Lander shut down a Sand Shark offense that came into the game averaging 103 points a game and came away with an 88-65 win Wednesday night to improve to 3-0 in Peach Belt Conference play.  

With the score tied at ten five minutes into the game, Nigel Colvin took a pass from Inady Legiste and hit a three-pointer to give the Bearcats a lead they would not relinquish. Lander would go on a 12-2 run to take a 10-point lead. A dunk by Legiste with 2:34 remaining in the half would give Lander their largest lead of the half, 48-21, and take a 50-33 lead into halftime. 

USC Beaufort would cut the lead to 11 four minutes into the second half, but that would be as close as they could get. A layup by Jacob Cooper would finish the scoring for the Bearcats and tie the season-high for points with 88.   

Nigel Colvin led five players in double figures, scoring 16 points, including going 4-4 from behind the three-point line. Noah Dunn added 15 points with seven rebounds, while Phillip Burwell and Inady Legieste each scored 12 points. Dominic Stanford finished with 10 points, and Ajang Aguek led all players with 12 rebounds.
