Men's soccer defeats USC Aiken 2-1 Wednesday evening

GREENWOOD - The Lander men's soccer team returned to form as it took down in-state rival USC Aiken 2-1 Wednesday evening.

Lander moves to 3-4-2 overall and 2-1-0 in the PBC while USC Aiken drops to 1-5-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the PBC.

How It Happened 

The Bearcats were first to strike as Jed Smith scored his first goal of the season in the 24th minute. Earning a corner kick, Charlie Bushby sent a kick into the box where he found Smith who headed in the opening goal.

Lander would attempt seven shots in the first half with three going on goal. USC Aiken took four shots in the first half with none going on goal.

Lander pushed its lead to 2-0 on yet another header. Rashawn Kellman launched a long throw-in attempt into the box where Rob Dymond headed in his second goal of the season in the 72nd minute.

The Pacers would score their lone goal of the game in the 84th minute on a penalty kick.
