Esports Week 3 Update

Rocket League
Peach Belt - In a week two matchup against the University of North Georgia, Lander fell 3-2. An offensive explosion by Brandon Eisenstein in game 4 with 3 goals brought Lander back from a 2-1 deficit, but could not close the series out.

 

Lander took on in-state rival USC    Aiken on Sunday in week 3 of the Peach Belt Conference. After a 2-1 victory in game 1, USC Aiken fired back and took 3 games in a row to claim the series. Lander drops to 0-3 in conference play and faces Converse on October 1st at 3 PM EST.

 

National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) - Lander finished 2-2 in the NECC Activation and will compete this Friday, opponent TBD. 


Valorant
Peach Belt - Lander fell to Columbus State and North Georgia by score lines of 0-2 and drop to 0-4 in conference play. The Bearcats will face Converse University on October 7th at 3 PM EST. 

 

NECC - Lander has been placed into the Navigators division after a 1-3 placement in the NECC Activation. 


Overwatch
Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming (OWC) - After splitting 1-1 in the double-header on Saturday, Lander is officially out of playoff contention for the Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming season. After dropping 0-3 against CSU Fullerton, Lander bounced back with a 3-1 decision over CSU San Bernardino.
 

NECC - Lander found two victories to finish 3-1 in the NECC Activation. After winning 3-0 over both Peru State College and the New England Institute of Technology, Lander will play their next match on Thursday, September 28th in the first week of the NECC regular season. 


League of Legends 

NECC - Lander's League of Legends team faced off against Rogers State University and the University of North Alabama on Wednesday evening. Toby Foster led the way for the Bearcats against RSU with 8 kills and 6 assists and Chivin So led the game in CS per minute at 7.4. Lander finishes 2-2 in the NECC Activation. Week 1 action will start on Wednesday, September 27th at 8 PM EST.

 

Super Smash Brothers Ultimate

Senior Daniel Kitts (Tomato.exe) took home the victory in Winthrop's Hidden Nest Ultimate Amateur tournament on Friday evening. Picking up wins over KnuckS, DuoM2, Tips, and Shabro in the upper bracket, Kitts had a rematch of his round 1 opponent, KnuckS, where Kitts prevailed 3-1. SSBU will be back on the road on October 20th in a return to Winthrop's Hidden Nest tournament.
