GREENWOOD - For the second-straight day, Lander shut out USC Aiken 3-0 to extend their home winning streak to nine games, dating back to last season.
The Bearcats again started fast in the first set. A service ace by Lauren Dow made it 6-1, forcing USC Aiken to take a timeout. The Pacers slowly fought back to make it a 14-10 Lander lead. A kill by Katie Miller would spark a 4-1 run, and the Bearcats would go one to take the first set 25-18.
The second set would be tightly contested. Lander would get kills from McCayla Willingham and Olivia Dow and a block by Christina Aguayo and Blondie Penaflor to break a tie and make it 5-2. The Bearcats would build a four-point lead at 20-16. USC Aiken inched back into the set to cut the Lander lead to 22-21. The Bearcats would score three out of the following four points to take the set 25-22.
The Pacers kept fighting in the third set and had the lead in the early part of the set. Trailing 13-11, the Bearcats would tie the setup at 13 with a Pacer service error and a block by Olivia Dow and Annie Holesinger. That ignited a 9-2 run for Lander, giving them a 20-15 lead, and the Beracat completed the sweep, winning 25-17.
Christina Aguayo led the Lander attack with 11 kills, nine digs, and two aces. Lauren Dow recorded another double-double, dishing out 34 assists with ten digs. Annie Holesinger and Blondie Penaflor each had three blocks to lead all players.
