GREENWOOD - Lander rolled by North Greenville 3-1 Thursday night in their home opener.
Lander ran away with the first set, winning 25-13. The Crusaders would respond by jumping out to a 7-3 lead in the second set. The Bearcats battled back, and a kill by Blondie Penaloir tied the score at nine. Kills by Lauren Dow and Katie Miller would give Lander an 11-9 lead. North Grenville would make it a one-point lead at 12-11. Lander would answer with five unanswered points to get some breathing room and take the second set 25-20.
The Crusaders would not go down without a fight, winning the third set 25-22 to force a fourth set. Lander rebounded, taking the fourth set 25-18 to seal the win.
Katie Miller and Olivia Dow led the Bearcat attack with 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Lauren Dow dished out a game-high 45 assists. Patricia Pantoja had 19 digs to lead all players, while Miller added 11.
